Introducing BurgaBox (why we started the company)

Hey, I'm Chuck.  I'm one of the co-founders of The Boston Burger Company and we're launching BurgaBox.com, the most ridiculous meal kit on Earth!

Why are we launching a startup while running 3 restaurants, a retail salsa line, a food truck, and a catering business?  Mostly because we think more people should be able to try our burgers (we're from Boston, and really say "burga") all over the country.

How it started...

Well, before I get into BurgaBox I'll try my best to explain The Boston Burger Company (BBC).  It's the classic story of a few best friends quit their jobs to start a burger joint together.  I was a real estate attorney, Sebby ran a bar in Downtown Boston, and Paul worked at the post office.  Then we all decided to open a burger joint together and to everyone's (including us) surprise, it actually worked.  Really worked.

Next thing you know we won Rachael Ray's battle of the best burger (Paul was on National TV haha) and Guy Fieri stopped by and did an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives (Paul's becoming famous) along with tons of other cool stuff.

Most successful restaurants are started by chefs or business moguls, we were far from either.  I knew what we lacked in connections, capital, and experience we could make up with our product.  We came up with 29 creative, over-the-top burgers, named each one, and made sure everything we put out was mind blowing.  That's our secret.  No Harvard degrees or James Beard award, just a few friends from Boston making mouth-watering burgers.

We're sitting in our warehouse one day (we have a warehouse & commercial kitchen where we run everything out of) arguing like normal when a box showed up. Our marketing director, Christina, was apparently scamming HelloFresh out of a free box and had to use the warehouse address to go undetected.  When the box arrived we all kinda gathered around, watched her open it, and sat there dumbfounded.  How could someone get excited for food like this?  It was a skimpy little healthy meal packed with kale and other things that people can't really enjoy eating.

I went home and did some research and found out that not only were people getting excited for these boxes but these companies are huge and tons of people are doing it.  I went back in the next day to tell my partners about this new discovery and we all sat there bufuddled again.  Seb finally blurts out "if we put our burgas in a box, people would lose their minds!"  BurgaBox was born.
